Local heritage book of Bahra

1640 to 1875

As of January 2008
1179 people

Bahra – Postal code 97639 – is a small village, that is part of Mellrichstadt in the Rhön-Grabfeld district today. The place is first mentioned in 1115; it is situated by a stream of the same name and had approximately 200 inhabitants in 2001.

Remarks / Sources:

The oldest three church books of Bahra from 1640 to 1875 were analyzed for this Family Heritage book. These church books are found in the Lutheran parish office in Mühlfeld. The pages of the church books were photographed with a digital camera and the dates then processed with the Genealogy program GES-2000. Basically, place names were expressed using current day spelling.

Occasionally in the birth and marriage entries, one finds that a death date has been noted retrospectively in the margin. I have adopted these death dates, unverified and without source information, for the time period after 1875. In a few cases dates can be provided for persons who come from places in the surrounding area, since they are known to me through my own research. Source information with the prefix ‘FB’ refers to the family books, which Mrs. Karine Kulbach-Fricke produced for her own private genealogical research.
